Someone recommended for me to use rubbermaid cuntainers, for eather rats or mice.. I was wondering wouldn't that cause some nemonia issuse sence its very porly ventilated? Or would just drilling a bunch of holes in the lid work?

You need container with no corners facing into bin, so most Rubbermaids are out. Also drilling holes would give the rats a place to start chewing. Large cat litter or cement mixing pans with no interior corners would work well, with lids made of hard warecloth and wood. Below is a pic of one of the first mouse racks I used, the same idea applies to rats.

you are right, ventilation is an important factor. more important is an escape proof container. the type of cage for your rats also depends on how many you plan to have. here is a pic of my rack that holds mice on the left and rats on the right. Later, Chris

I breed rats in cement tubs readily available at lowes for 4 or 5 bucks. You safely house a lot of rats this way cheaply and with no escapes. Just use a hardware cloth top.
