Wild Caught Cascade County, Montana Hogs

daneby Mar 08, 2013 07:42 PM

All of these hogs were caught by me in Cascade County, Montana.

1st up is a female I found one morning on Comer Hill RD. in 2009. She was a young adult.

This is a Comer Hill Road male I found in 2006. He was a full size adult when found.

Here is a Big Bend Ranch female. She was a juvenile when I found her in 2006.

My wife found this Big Bend Ranch girl as a young adult in 2011.

I found this Flood Road female in 2008 as a hatchling.

Here is a Flood Road female I caught in 2010. She was a full size adult.

Here is another Big Bend Ranch male I caught in 2008. He was a young juvi. In my opinion he is the best looking hognose in my collection.

Thats all for now. Thanks for looking.

Wow!...what a nice group there, Dan!

Interesting how the Big Bend locale is generally a bit lighter.

cheers, ~Doug

Great looking animals Dan.
Love the variability-
Here are pictures of the 2010' f1's from your big bend ranch hogs.
I have to agree and say that this male is easily one of my very nicest hognose snakes. Easily the favorite non morph I own.
Thanks Dan-

Nice hogs, but I cant help wonder what the purpose is for removing them from natural habitat?

daneby Mar 20, 2013 07:30 PM

The reason I took them is simply so I could work with Montana hogs. Do you keep snakes or other reptiles?

Fresh blood? We American hog keepers are lucky to have these homegrown animals.

I don't have a qualm with collecting from the field unless the specimen doesn't acclimate well, in that case should be released, can't say a thing about hogs in that regard but it's a no go for me and garters!!! Chomp chomp chomp...and the musk...don't get me going!

Dan! I love that 2006 Big Bend female, she's got some great color blending on her. Love the subtle contrast in her spots and base color. I agree with you on the 2008 Big Bend boy. He's extremely interesting, busy pattern, great color too. Nice blushing! And the grey head?

That second photo is pretty intense, top notch.
