New to forum, WTF question!?

mike7934 Oct 07, 2003 12:23 AM

HI, i was going to get a wtf tree frog. The frog i'm goin to get is about the size of a quater maybe smaller. I have a couple questions. One, I have a 10 gallon tank would this be ok for now? Two, what kind of substrate should i use, i have beadabeast already. Three, temperatures, and humidity? Four, feeding? I can't think of anything else. Any other tips would be helpful. Thanks.

Mike.

I've read so mant responces to WTF questions, lets see if I get it right LOL

1. a 10 gallon should be fine for now. Once the lil bugger reaches about 2 inches you should look into upgrading to at least a 20 gallon.

2. bed a beast is perfect!

3. day temps 78-80, night 72-76... humidity 40-60%

4. pinhead crickets are great for the size you are looking into getting. Food size length equales froggies head width. you can also mix it up with the occational wax worm, meal worm, moths, flies... and soft bodies buggie. But don't offer wax or meal worms too often because they are high in fat. Make them a treat, maybe 2 or 3 a month. NO PINKIES! Stick with insects. Pinkies aren't good for your froggie because of the build-up of the whatcha-call-its (someone remind me of the word) behind the eyes and can cause blindness over time. You also risk ending up with a fat froggie!

Hmm... did I cover it all folks?

That sounds about right. I would feed medium crickets though. Pin heads are expensive for the amount of food. A 3/4 inch frog should be able to take medium crickets with no problem.

I guess I'm just lucky in the fact that we have a near-by shop where we buy our crix 1000 for $16 any size.
