Feeding

BallPall Apr 04, 2013 02:56 PM

OK to start, I'm not new to snake keeping at all. Unfortunately i am stumped with my problem. I currently have a ball python and a milk snake. Both are starting to get i guess you can say picky when they eat. Both used to eat great, no problems. To start with the python. He is becoming very picky and will not eat lately. I've had him for about a year now and i started him off on rat pups, ate those fine. I came to school fed him adult mice, still no problem. Became bigger, started with small rats, still no problem. Now lately i offer him small rats and nothing. I tried frozen, live, stunned and nothing. I offered him a live mouse and he took it no problem. The issue is i don't understand why he won't eat the rats anymore. Any thoughts. temperature humidity cage, everything is fine.

quickly....

ball...age? male?...it just what they do....male...this time of year ?...horny...simple as that....

winter is just ending...as seasons change , balls especially can become ...shall we say....moody....too hot- too cold -too wet -too dry- too windy- too much attention- not enough attention,,,,or...he looked at me...all can make balls stop eating...

rewrite it and then say...all can make balls start eating...

balls are balls...they need a food break usually...they just won't eat 52 meals a year....some do...but most will not...

some eat 6 rats a year....(males)...and live fine...-

...now tell us about your pain in the butt milk?....
(should pickup...spring is springing..)..

it may be like jy said, or it might have turned picky and have become a mouser. i might just start another thread on this topic i have a female pied that started on f/t rat pups as a hatchling and moved all the way up to f/t small rats. once she hit 700g, she has not touched anything except for live mice :/ she will eat 1-4 lg mice at a time, but will not touch a rat. she is currently aprox 1,500g and doing fine. i feed her what she will eat...
