PROBLEM CONCERNING LEOS...

bmills May 27, 2003 02:51 PM

I currently have 2 leos, a normal and an albino...they are housed in a 20 gallon long tank. I am very interrested in getting a third and putting it in the tank too. I have been looking at blizzards and leucistics, and some jungles. The only problem is, my 2 leos now are about 5 to 7 inches. The ones I am looking at are all about 4 inches. I have to be consolodated to one tank by September 1st, and if I get a baby now, I can keep him/her seperate for like 3 months, but I need them to be able to go into the tank with my others by September 1st. How long would it take a 4 inch leo to grow to about 5 or 6 inches? And how safe is it to put a leo in with the other leos if it is about an inch or 1/2 inch smaller than the others? Please let me know what you think. I appreciate the help, thanks.

three months should be ample amount of time to quarenteen your gecko and to grow it up and feed it. it the gecko is a 1/2 an in or so smaller its okay. i have a four month old gfecko that is 40 grams and ready to breed.
just make sure and feed your guy well and on a normal basis ,keep clean water and good heat (90 degrees) if all are present your gecko should have no problems growing up nicely... just a tip : feed gut loaded mealies for maximum growth

So if I keep her seperate and feed her well in good conditiions for the next 3 months, she should be able to be put in with the other leod which are about 6 inches. The Leucistic is about 4 inches now, so she will grow that much? If she can, I am going to get her tomorrow...she is beautiful.

yeah you should have no problems growing her up in the next couple of months and yes by the end of summer she should be large enough to house with your other geckos... remember though when you put her in the viv the male is going to try and breed her. i would go to wal amrt and get a pstal gram scale that weighs in grams and make sure she is 45-50 grams before putting her in there... so when the male does mate with her she will be large enough
