switching back to rats?

geckoejon Apr 05, 2013 05:30 AM

hello,

just curious if anyone has had success with switching a mouser back to rats? if so, how?

i have a 2011 female pied that started on f/t rat pups as a hatchling and moved all the way up to f/t small rats. once she hit 700g, she has not touched anything except for live mice :/ she will eat 1-4 lg mice at a time, but will not touch a rat. she is currently aprox 1,500g and doing fine. i toss in a small rat, she just leaves them be. i toss in a mouse, and she slams them... repeatedly. when she first went off rats, i let her go a couple months before trying mice. try rats occasionally without success.

i did not breed her this seaon. i am looking for an interesting male to pair her with for next season. figured i would let her get some more size before breeding. it would be nice to get her to eat rats before and after birth to put a little more weight on her.

thoughts? feedback?
thanks....
jonathan

yesw they switch back and forth....

could be the weather

could be just temps...raise it 4 degrees or lower it if it's 92 now...(I just picked a number)...

all you can do is keep trying....breeding her will switch her hormones...after she copulates a few times...try again...try small rats....
