Tried something new with my latest photo shoot (pics)

Lyn Oct 07, 2003 08:06 AM

Most of my photos are of my geckos sitting on my hand. I wanted to try something new this time, so I took a black t-shirt and laid it down. Took some pics of the geckos on the flat t-shirt (a bit challenging as most would just walk right off of it the first chance they got) then I picked up the t-shirt and draped it over my hand and took some that way. I'd like to experiment with diff color backgrounds this way, but I think the black worked pretty neat. Here are some of the results...

Simba my ham, he's skittish to catch and hard to hold, but absolutely loves photo shoots and strikes the most adorable poses then just stands there waiting for me to take the pic. Such a cutie. He is a Patternless Rainwater.

Another one of Simba...

Buttercup, she is a Rainwater poss het for Patternless, this was one of the pics I took with the t-shirt over my hand holding them up.

Firenze, he is such a mellow gecko, very easy to photograph. He is a super hypo het for rainwater

Another one of Firenze, I love the 'spotlite' effect in this pic...

Mystique, she's a quick one and didn't want to sit still at all. Lots of giggles as she bolted off the t-shirt time after time. She is a hypo tang. Most of her pics where a result of my picking her up, putting her in the center, putting my hand in front of her, aiming the camera, then lifting my hand and snapping the pic right away before she could take off.

Another one of Mystique...

Trouble, he is a high yellow male, waiting to go to his new home. I had too many males and a friend of mine who has all females has been really wanting him so I broke down and agreed to sell him. I'm keeping his brother Scooter, but Scooter was in shed and missed the photo shoot. Trouble will go to his new home soon, I'll miss him, he's a great Leo. This is another example of the shirt over the hand...

That's all folks!

That was my little Rainwater het Patternless, Melina. This is actually how most of my pics turned out. Luckily I have a digital camera so it doesn't matter how many I take. I think I took near 100 in this shoot, but have taken as many as 200 in a setting.

I did a photo shoot with my ferrets this past weekend too, here was my fav from that shoot (no t-shirt). His name is Sullivan (Sully for short)...

Thanks for looking at all my pics! I want to go get some Halloween fabric and do a Halloween shoot, then some Christmas fabric... Ohhhhhh the possibilities are endless!

What kind of camera are you using? They turned out great! Did you also take those pics in the dark? With or without flash?
I just like to ask what kind of camera people use since the camera I have doesnt take the best close up and I mean the realy CLOSE UPS I cant even take pics in poor light.

The pics are really nice! Simba and Mystique are my favorites! Where did you get Mystique?

Your ferret is absolutely adorable! I think they are sooo cute. That picture is priceless! LOL That little tongue! :P he hehe

Great pics I cant wait to see what else you'll take with them!

I went to the store and said I needed a digi cam that would do really good closeup work. The salesman went straight for the Nikon Coolpix 2500 (there are newer versions out there now). I looked at this small cheap looking $250 camera and thought blah, what's that little thing gonna do? I was prepared to buy a more expensive fancy one. But he insisted that was what I wanted if I wanted to do closeup work. I'm thrilled with it. Now I'm happy it's small, easy to carry around. It has lots of settings but I use the closeup one the most. The pics were taken in my basement with an overhead flourescent light on, plus any light coming from the heat lamps on my tanks.

Here is a closeup pic I took of my Carpet Python shedding a few weeks ago...

Here is the rest of him (and me too) with the same camera just in it's regular mode...

As for Mystique and Simba, they both came from R&B Geckos, along with Firenze, Melina, and Buttercup. Mystique blows me away. I was just feeding her a waxworm a few minutes ago and was just staring at her, can't believe she's mine.

I love this pic, it looks like we are holding hands if you use your imagination a little...

Here are all of my ferrets, they are loads of fun...

Thanks again for looking at my pics! Not so much fun taking them if you can't share them
