Hi there,
I have had this trio of ackies for fourteen months now, they are probably about sixteen months in age. As youngsters, I whitnesseed them attempt to copulate with eachother, but I did not think anything of it, as this is normal with juveniles, as they develop a system of heirarchy. However a couple of months ago, I whitnessed a pair hooked up for about an hour and a half. I thought to myself, AHA! a sexed pair!!. Nothing ever arose from that copulation, which is no big deal. I am in no need or rush to breed them. However, this past week, the "female" has turned around and has started pursuing the two cagemates, including the "male" from the previous copulation. So, I am confused as to the sexes of my ackies, I am beginning to wonder that I have three males; however, this would not explain the situations that commonly arise in captive groups when raised from hatchlings, with equal sex ratios usually developing. I know these pics aren't the greatest, but I have noticed some of you have been able to tell by looking at skull structure and color. THe spurs have been of no help to me, for all three's appear to be the same in size. Basically, I understand that male to male, female to female, female to male, etc., has been whitnessed in juveniles, but has anybody experienced this with adults, or is this an indication of a group of lone males?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time,
bob mendyk
