my first litter of the year and OT stuff

mike_panic Apr 11, 2013 10:01 AM

I had this small sloppy litter back on April 2nd. That being said, it was a nice litter for me because I proved out a blood female who was only 50% poss het albino. There were two albinos in the litter an albino blood and a normal albino. Unfortunately, the normal albino didn't make it. I will post photos of the albino blood male when he sheds in a day or so. Also, here are a few photos of my little side project I have been working on. I hope you don't mind some off topic photos. The Santa Cruz Garter(single yellow stripe) is gravid as well as the Blue California Red side(the blue wasn't captured well in the photo). The Eastern Black Neck garter(in blue) I am not sure about but as you can see, she is in shed so I will know soon. This last year or so has been rough with the surgeries and all of the neck problems I have dealt with. Retirement from the police force has been an adjustment as well. Many thanks for all the support I received from my buddies in this forum. Thanks for looking. Mike Panichi

Congrats on proving out the albino. Tough luck on the ones that didn't make it. It looks like you do have some nice ones there

Nice!! Congrats, I know it's not the biggest litter but it sure is nice. That Ghost girl we got from you last year dropped 22 babies for us! only 1 slug, I was shocked how many she dropped with how small she is! couldn't remember how many you said she dropped in her first litter though. can't wait to see the blood albino after it sheds!

That's awesome. She was a really nice snake. I remember her having a big clean litter. I can always go to the book for you and find out exactly how many. Just let me know. Anyway thanks and take care.

Hey man. She had 18 babies in 2011. Not a single slug I believe. I bred her to the fully striped CA Motley male who was poss het anery. He proved out no to be so. Thanks again. Mike Panichi

Huge congrats on a great (but small) litter. Proving females out can be extremely rewarding, especially when they can make blood-albinos Glad to hear that you're recovering well and that you are making more beautiful orange snakes. Let me know if that blood-albino is a boy or a girl, I may want to grab that from you (if you're selling it).

Thanks buddy,
Anthony

really cool that.. bloody, and the garters who would have guessed...neat!
Congrats Mike on your career ..well done..another chapter rolls up.

Thanks Tibor. The garters are pretty cool little snakes I must admit. I've bred all sorts of different colubrids in my day but these guys are totally different. I like them. That being said I have scaled down to just my blood projects. I know most people think they are overrated but I enjoy them and know them well. Take care. Mike
