Timer with cycles in seconds not minutes, where can I get one?

Marcin Oct 07, 2003 08:53 AM

Do you guys know where I could get a timer that does seconds instead of minutes? I'd like to connect a mister to a small tank, but 1 minute intervals 3 times per day won't work for me. I'd rather have something like 5 sec intervals 24 times per day or 12 times per day at 10sec each. This way the humidity would be maintained constant throughtout the day and wouldn't fluctuate.

the hurdle to overcome is a timer that does cycles in seconds instead of minutes.

Interval timers are very expensive. I picked one up on Ebay a while back that wasn't too bad (I think I paid about $20). A new one will run you a copuple of hundred. They are sold as greenhouse mist timers or for hydroponic use. You can do a search for interval timer or intermittant(sp?) timer and find out more info.

Most of the interval timers you will find will be photographic equipment. You don't want those. They are only for a single interval, you need a repeating interval timer.

How many tanks are you going to use this for? If a lot then I see the reason, but to be honest for one take I really do not see the need of the added cost. You can get a Timex timer that will go down to 1 minute. Though I would guess that would be way too much. There is a cheap setup idea here:
