Snowglow Boa?Need opinions/advice...Pics

KeViN_CSV_06 Apr 23, 2013 12:21 AM

Ok so where do i begin, about two weeks ago i came across some boas that were being sold as a package deal on fauna. It was a female sharp snowglow boa and a male kahl sunglow. It was nearby and at a great price so i jumped on it because they were priced to sell and nearby. I am more than happy with them but have a concern with the female, she does have a very slight amount of orange on her tail ad thats where i am confused as i thought the anery gene took all red/orange pigment out. I did tell the guy my concerns though and he agreed with me posting pictures and info up on here for others opinions, and then to forward the link to him. To give him credit though he did have it posted on fauna about the slight color on her tail so wasnt really being sneaky about it. So i picked them up and he offered me a refund if things didnt work out. So here i am looking for advice because if she is indeed a snowglow i got a great deal, but if she is just a sharp or sharp het anery plus the male kahl sunglow it was a bit high on price. So here is a little background info, he said he got her a while back from a man named Ben who worked at Reptile Depot here in chatsworth california, but the shop is now closed so there isnt a way to contact him. The explanation from "Ben" as to why she looks the way she looks is because her mother was an almost completely red sharp coral albino het anery, and the male was a snowglow. The males parents were said to be from the coral line also. So with that being said she was labeled by "Ben" as a "lower end" snowglow and thats why he gave him a better deal. Of course pictures do a lot more explaining than just words and i actually took some today but dont exactly know how to post them on here as its making me crop them very small and most of the picture needs to get cut out, i took them with my phone, so quality isnt the best but it is more than enough to be able to tell by them and see what im talking about. I have some of herself and some with the sunglow for comparision. If some of you could help me out id appreciate it as i dont want to wait too long before he changes his mind, and the more opinions the better so we have a fair amount of thoughts and not just one or two. If you guys can help me post pictures on here i will, or if not id me more than happy to email them to you guys as well. Thanks and i appreciate any and all help than will be provided. Sorry for such a long essay just wanted to get all the info out there. As for the price and name of the guy who sold it i wont mention, i promised itd be anonymous. Thanks again.

No help? I would rather be able to post the pictures on here if i could. I got all of the pictures up on fauna but don't want to refer you guys to there as i don't know if it is allowed or not. We already came up on a conclusion on there, meanwhile, i haven't even gotten one reply back on here. I want to get a few more opinions. Id appreciate it if anyone could help, thanks.

Alright so i finally managed to get the pictures up. Not the best as they are from my phone, but enough to be able to see them and know what i am talking about. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks in advance

Those aren't the best pictures and I am by no means the best expert on here, but it looks like an albino to me? Maybe one of the bigger breeders on here can give ya a better answer?

Yeah I agree that's what I thought at first. Only thing that gives me doubts is the sellers word that it is a snowglow. But I did indeed tell him that if the possibility was there that the original breeder may have lied to him and that it was just an albino with very low color to her. I thought that as well because of the orange on her tail, and to my understanding the anery gene should take that all out. She is much more pale, almost white looking next to the sunglow and my other boas, so I see where he may have believed the original breeder if it was indeed a lie, and as babies I'm sure she had even less color on her because of the color not developing yet. I know the pictures don't help very much either but they were off of my phone and then transferred to my computer. Yeah that's why I posted on here to see what others including the higher breeders though but no one seems like they really want to help out. My post has been up all day and last night as well, you were the first reply. I appreciate your thought though and its something that has crossed my mind also. Thanks again

i would send them back for a refund. while pretty boas, that "snowglow" is not a snowglow at all. matter of fact, its not even a sunglow, it clearly has no hypo to it at all, nor does it have anery, as there is red in the tail. that makes it just a normal sharp albino. I don't know what you paid, but if you paid market price for a sharp snowglow, you overpaid SEVERLY. It's definately just a sharp albino, not a sunglow or even moonglow.

Thanks for the help, i appreciate it. I didn't quite pay market price for the both of them, more like about half of what a snowglow is going for at the moment. I had a feeling she may just be an albino and not a snowglow, and i let him know that ahead of time as well. Just thought i'd look in to it more and now i hope he keeps to his word. I want to be clear though, it seemed like he was convinced that she was a snowglow, which we now pretty much agreed now that shes not, but i don't believe he was trying to trick me out of my money with lies. The main issue seems to have come from the original breeder which he is no longer able to contact any more, but i may be wrong. Regardless i will be looking to get it fixed. Thanks again
