refrigerators dying?

fliptop Apr 26, 2013 07:07 PM

Do refrigerators die? Went into my back studio apt to let my dogs out after work and smelled something awful--thought one of the dogs got sick. Turns out it was what once were frozen mice, now thawed and rotting. There was no outside damage to the fridge (thought maybe the dogs did something to it), the lights still came on, and the temp setting was right. Just no cold/freezing air in fridge or freezer. $250 worth of wasted mice to top off a crappy day at work. Yay!

All machines that work, quit working. Including people!

Compessor failure. This is typical when the light still works.

Last year I had an 18 cubic foot freezer full of feeders (from pinky mice to small pigs) die while I was out of town for a week.

I could smell it from the driveway.

Three parts fail on a regular basis and in this order

(1)Start relay
(2)Thermostat
(3)compressor

and in most cases in the small units, it costs more to fix then it's worth
