Hypo Jungle????

Maeveretts Apr 27, 2013 11:09 AM

There's an add on craigslist posted for a Hypo Jungle boa for $50. I don't know too much about the different boa morphs and was wondering what you guys thought about this picture. I currently have an Anery, albino, and 2 normal females.
The lady selling it told me that her daughter (who owns the snake) has OCD and kept buying snakes. Now this one is too big for her and that's why she's selling him so cheap. Here's the pictures.

Very interesting. I don't know if that boa classifies as a jungle or not. The only way to know for sure if the boa is a jungle is to contact the original breeder and find out the background on the parents. Hopefully that breeder is someone reputable, and not just some person who thinks they have jungles. If you can't trace the lineage, then it would be wrong to classify this animal (or any offspring resulting from any breeding trials) as jungles. However, you can certainly classify them as cool looking boas

1) If that boa is too big for her daughter, then she must be the smallest person on the planet. That boa looks like it's only 2 feet long, lol.

2) I think it has a pretty neat look to it regardless of possibly being a jungle. If it's only $50 and you like it, then you should buy it. I'm sure you'll give it a much better home than the seller will.

Unfortunately she did not remember the name of the original breeder. And the "daughter" was my age, around 20. IDK the family was strange and the girl seemed like a compulsive buyer and that's how she got into snakes then I guess decided to get rid of them. The whole situation was weird.
I did get him though and he looks like he might shed in a few days. I'll post some pictures when he does. Also, is there no way to tell if he's jungle by breeding him?

There is a way to prove out the jungle gene. You can breed the boa in the pictures to a known/guaranteed jungle. If the litter has a few super jungles in it then the boa is in fact a jungle. If not, then it wasn't.

That is an aberrant Hypo Boa , but I'd bet a years wages that it is not a Hypo Jungle. It doesn't have the distinct aberrancies that Jungles have, nor the colors . It is cool, and worth more than $50 - no question. Congrats on the purchase.

It does have more of the "zig-zag" pattern that you can not see in those pictures. Once he sheds i'll post more pictures. But even with the more messed up pattern that you can not see in the picture, you think he's just an odd patterned hypo?
Either way I'm not arguing. He's a sweet looking boa, especially for $50
