Now that looks like a much better nesting atempt my Italian friend. Like Frank said, a lot of us are restricted (actually, our snakes are the ones restricted) by using racks. But we should make every effort to do better within those restrictions. I think your nestin is much better than what you were doing before but you can do better. Just like I can do better with my nesting set up.

Congrats Adamo, those are some nice looking eggs.

I would go a little deeper if you could, until the snake can bury the eggs. But, what you did was far better then what we previously saw.

Also, could you tell us the times from their shed to egg deposition? That is important to determine how well the females like their nesting.

The shorter times frome the pre-egg laying shed, tell you how good the nesting is. With good nesting, they can lay the day after the shed, but 3 to 5 days is normal. With poor nesting 9 to 14 days is more normal.

Also, read Greggs description of his last nesting. Whats "important" is, the female arranged and covered the eggs to complete nesting. This tells you, the female sensed her job was complete and normal.

IT will be so interesting to hear what, deeper nesting does with your animals.

ALso, may I ask a question. You have mature hogs, so you must have some history. Did your females multiclutch in the past? you know, have more then one clutch a season? Is so what percentage?

I ask because it will be interesting to see if your version of nesting helps increase the second or third clutch percentage. It normally does. If nesting is really suitable to the female and shes strong and well fed, three great clutchs is very possible.

Again, thanks for sharing and congrats, your going to have a pile of hognose. Best wishes

Thanks for the advice ... I have been breeding for years Heterodon in Italy but few people are expert in hogs....
I am happy to be able to improve the deposition of my females.
Great improvement with deposition time ..... last years 10/12 hours for all deposition.....Yesterday only 5 hours.
I copy in my breeding card. Some of my girls, all it takes too long
