Question for those that keep more than 1 in a tank (Help plz)

Hefe Oct 07, 2003 11:00 AM

Hi. I have had 4 leos for about a year and a half. I originally had them in a 20 gal wide. I bought a 40 gal breeder for them but before I moved them I noticed one of my leos was getting bitten on the tail repeadly. They are all females(ive checked many times) and I think there is once certain leo thats doing the biting. My question is, why would a leo single another out to do this to? I have seen the one that I suspect, bite at the head of another leo as she was trying to enter the same hide. Also I moved the 3 into the 40 gal and let the other one heal up. After 2 weeks I put her back in with the other 3 and withing 10 min she was bleeding again. Anyone have any possible explanation for this? The one thats being bitten seems to be in good health she has a plump body and her tail is fat although it is strangely shorter than the other 3. Thanks for reading this!!

If you can figure out the answer to that question, then you will make a killing with it!

I mean, it is tough to know exactly what it is that distinguishes one leo as a "Pick On Me" leo, but I have the same problem right now. No matter which female I put this one I have with, she gets picked on. There is something going on, just can't figure out what it is.

Hmm... when you put them all together in the 40 breeder did you bleach it out? I had a problem with that with my girls but Marcia from Goldengate geckos told me to bleach everything out. I would try and take everything out of the tank and i mean everything, and bleach everything you can tank houses bowls and everything. When you put everything back into it. Put the one that is getting picked on in it first. Keep her in there if you can for like 30 min to an hour so she can expore the tank by herself without having to worry. COntinue to put the leos in but put the more aggresive on in first. It sounds like she is protective of her hides and so forth. Ohh Yea when you put the tank back together put the stuff in different places so it looks like a new tank compeltely. If that still doesnt work. Take the more aggressive one out and house her seperatly. I hope that helps. Let me know how it works.
