New line T+ proves out

albinorosy May 26, 2013 01:13 PM

Well it took a little longer than I was hoping for, but after 4 years the Gibbs line T + gene has proven out recessive. After posting "gravid" pictures last season, and obviously jinxing the potential litter as the female resorbed, she finally came thru last night. The breeding was a visual T + male offspring to his het mother. (pictured below) The male visual T positive additionally proved to be het kahl albino and anery. I’m a little disappointed in the slug count which was clearly hiding the snows and t+ snows, but couldn’t be more thrilled in proving out this very cool T positive gene. Sorry about the amount of pics, but if anyone can appreciate the time frame in proving out genetics it's you guys! so thanks for looking.

Congratulations on proving this out. The male has an interesting look to it. Almost similar to the Desert T 's. Very cool.

As far as the Anery goes, was that small one the only anery? If so, at this stage of the game I would not pin them as being het anery, but instead this "anery" appearing animal results from being slightly premature. This is evident by its apparently smaller size and large yolk sac. I would want to repeat this breeding and see how this "anery" animal does before considering them het anery also.

Great litter.
