Help, white tree frog question!?

mike7934 Oct 07, 2003 12:36 PM

I just got a white tree frog today from petco. the frog s about the size of a quater. I hae him in a critter keeper cage. the cage is about 5 gallons, maybe a little smaller. Is this ok for now? I plan on moving him into a ten soon. also, in there i have a plastic tree trunk hide that has three different holes for him to crawl in. it takes up less than half the enclosure. is this ok. and do i still need a shallow water bowl. i mist him quite often. Thanks for your help.

Mike.

Everything sounds fine, except you didn't mention a heat source. A lamp would be best. If you plan on getting a tank, a UTH could break the glass, due to the humidity... or at least that is what i have been told... I've had uths on my frogs' tanks for ten years and never had a problem. The red heat bulb seems to heat the tank up really really well, btw. your critter cage should probably be at least 2 gallons - a large. For future reference, be careful when buying the babies... they have a better chance of dying than an adult. Good luck, and keep asking questions.
