Hognose Cross Breeding Question?

Austin12 Jun 11, 2013 01:26 PM

Not getting any info from the other post, so I'll start my own...is it possible to cross breed Hognose with other types?

I have no idea where the limits of cross breeding species are or even possible. Anyone with links to some reading about this would be appreciated.

The reason no one is responding is, its a bad question. Anything is possible. So what does that mean? nothing.

If you ask, has this and that been crossed, maybe you can get some answers. or not.

As far as I am aware of, there have been no distant crosses, most likely lots of Mexican/western crosses. I would think eastern/western and western/southern, are possible.

I cannot see why anyone would want that at this time, but who knows. Best wishes

Crossing breeding hmm Like an eastern to a western or breeding western hogs
... If you are talking about a Western hog to an Eastern hog then not like wise ...

Well it wasn't like I was planning to do it (cross em)...I was more or less just asking if it can be done. Reason being if one was to find an different type animal that had a really great color and or pattern, is it possible to breed them. (Now don't go all hostel on me, I'm just asking if it can be done or has it been done before?) I'm not out to inject some crazy wild line into the Western Hognose Community

I'm sure it's basic genetics subject matter, I was just asking!

you might try asking on the hybrid forum. think that's the name of it. there is a forum and ad space just for crosses. i personally have never tried and have no intention of trying, but would be curious to the outcome. i think the pure natural forms are beautiful
