How stressfull are ants to chames? (more)

gabrielmtl Oct 07, 2003 12:45 PM

Every year, for a month or so, red ants love to use my herb room has a chilling area. I can control their movement a bit with baby powder (works miracle with ants, they litterly avoid going near it) but now they seem to be more numbered then before...

I will do everything I can to kill them or scare them away, but in the mean time, can they stress my chams or arm them in any way? My male has been pretty stressed lately and I dont know why yet...

Gabriel-

Well I know ants drive me nuts!LOL! As for the chameleon, I would not say they are bothered by there presence, but I would be worried about them biting the chameleon, this will stress him out and cause problems. I have found that regular soap and water will kill ants on contact, this is much safer to use around animals then poisons would be. Hope this helps!

the problem with soap and water is that with the ammount of ants in my whole building, i would have to kill them every day... thats why I use baby powder, just a bit scares them away.

For the bumb on her back, do you think its just one of her bones showing and thats it?

thanks again

Gabriel-

Yes, I think the bump in the photo is just her bone, it is on both sides of her body correct? The soap an water works good for killing ants in or near the chameleons cage. (chameleon removed from the cage first) Hope this helps!
