Grey Tree Frog Burrowing - Question

frognovice Oct 07, 2003 01:18 PM

My Grey Tree Frog I found on our hottub just started to burrow today under some moss (between the bedabeast and moss). The last few days he has been hanging out on top of the sticks I have in his home. I put him in his new home 3 days ago and have not misted the inside since.

I have some questions -

What should the humidity level be?
What should the temp be?
How often should I mist?
Is it okay if he burrows occasionally or does it mean something is wrong?
Because I got him in the wild, should I let him hibernate?

the picture here is his home. Currently there is screen on the top right where it turns in, and then the top with the bird on it is on top but turned so there are screen vents on the four corners that allow for circulation.

You can mimic temps for the year without going cold enough for them to brumate (although burrowing in cool weather should be normal, I'm not sure about Greys) Humidity... well, just guide that by your own environment, as it's what the frog is used to, without going to extremes.
