Leopard Geckos and sand, I would like some feed back on people that use Calcium sand like bone-aid,ESU or zoo med brands. I have
been reading on the web and 60% say no to Calcium sand and 40% say its ok!
(((Each of the companys say it's 100% ok/good for them .)))
just look in for some info
thank you

My opinon is no that it isnt good. No matter how small it may be. The smaller the better though. I bought one female that was kept on Cali-sand. The breeder said it was good for them because they can eat it if they need more calcium and the it was approved and so on. Well no calcium sand is FDA Approved. He said that the sand was especially good for them when they shed since they can also abosrb the caclium like that. This leo I purchased has had a hard time. She had a small case of MBD. That took me about 2 months to get her well on calcium and she also had a hard time hunting. I used a calcium and that was real small but even though I used it between tile I had in my cage my leos still ended up eating a lot of it when they were hunting for food. I have heard how it can be good and bad. I would rather not take a chance to hurt my leos and pay those lovely vet bills if I didnt have to.

I use plain and simple paper towels. I recently did a lot of research into which substrate was the best to use, and the only one that did have any health issues, was paper towels. If you get plain white paper towels, it almost looks like white sand at first glance.
