Yesterday I fed my snake a f/t mouse and it was a bit too moist and a few too many shavings of aspen stuck to it. It was too late to do anything by the time I noticed. My snake should be ok, right? How can I prevent this in the future, frozen mice come out pretty wet when thawed.

You can feed in a seperate container, like a shoebox-sized rubbermaid. If you don't want to do that, you can put down a paper towel or something underneath the mouse and hope the snake doesn't pull it off. Also try putting the mouse in a bag when thawing so it doesn't get so wet.

Alittle aspen wont hurt, i guess. My snakes have had a few shavings go in (and probabaly out...lol) To reduce this, i like to feed the snakes frozen/thawed mice in a paper bag..like those brown small lunch bags. If you don't like to do that, once the mouse is thawed, run it under some warm water to get it warm, and rub it with paper towels until dry.

Thanks Guys.

Hey Zach, you're into carnivorous plants? I just had a venus flytrap die on me. I was feeding it well, kept it in good light under very humid conditions, but it just wasn't enough. Every time it ate, the head of the leaf would shortly blacken and fall off. Also, the leaves were always a bit brittle and thin for some odd reason. I kept it in sphagnum peat moss. Apparently I was supposed to add some sand. I even got it to blossom HEAVILY (for a venus), so you can imagine my dissapointment as it withered away oh so slowly.
