Hey guys-

I really don't know what to do to keep him awake. I woke him when I got home from school around 10:30 and by 11:30 he was already back under the paper towel. I really am afraid of him hibernating or whatever you call it with lizards. What do I do?

You can't force him to stay awake. May crank up the heat if it is not normal temps in the tank. Others may want to give their opinion, I think since you say you have them in a bigger tank now, maybe temps are not quite as hot. Remember i should be approx. 85- 90 on the cool end. So get a themometer and see what temps are.

Well should I just leave him alone then? Should I continue to leave worms in a dish? Do I need to add a dish of water? Will he just sleep for a long time or will he wake up for a little bit each day? Sorry, but Jo never tried to brumate and I don't think Pebbles is trying either.

Bam Bam is a little over 6 months old. And it is over 100 on the hot side of the cage now that I have 2 heat lamps.

on sleeping let him be a few days and see what he does. Your saying Pebbles is not sleeping so looks like you would have to make a decision, to brumate them both or put him in a seperate place. Also make sure before any brumation that they have enough weight on them, are not runts or thin. Some people don't brumate them young. But some do. Depends on their health. You can go to Will Wells site and read captive care, as far as steps to brumate, lot easier than typing it all out. Hope it helps ya somewhat Becca. Eve

My female pulled that trick a month or so ago. I added another regular lightbulb to her tank to increase light intensity and upped her undertank heater. After a couple of days she perked up, starated eating and now she thinks its spring! I have since lowered her UTH to its original temp, but kept the extra light just because I like it better. Good luck!
