The last time she (california kingsnake) was with a male was on 13 April.....and 90 days later (today) she is finally laying eggs.

She laid 12 good eggs. She is 5 years old. I never ever put my snakes on heat. I use ambient fluctuating room temps. Warmer during the day and cooler at night. Warmer at the front of the tubs and cooler in the back of the tubs.

Thats still a long time, I would have thought she was egg bound or something. I had a large grayband go about 70 days, and lay 12 eggs. Which is long term, but still in the normal range, for a grayband, and I was starting to worry!
Do you feel that the larger the snake and the bigger clutches do a longer term?

I had a high white reverse stripe cal king that used to breed in April and be the last to drop her eggs (about 90 days). She was a young snake.

It isn't egg bound. It is just that the female did not ovulate for weeks after the male bred her. Sperm retention.

I had a high white do that last year, I thought she was eggbound then boom one day theres 7 good eggs in the egg box. I currently have several cal kings yhrowing out 2nd clutches without additional breedings though only one has been a good egg so far.
