An interesting observation with wild hogs. I have been looking at diet in the field. The misunderstanding that toads are a mainstay, is not accurate with these populations and maybe most populations.

The problem is, toads are very seasonal and hogs more accurately, neonate hogs, require prey to quickly reach maturity. As mentioned, in the fall, the neonates concentrated on lizards.

This note is interesting.

When approached, she voided, which is common with hogs, She voided lizard eggs shells.

This female is last years hatch and is growing well. Enjoy

Explains why many hogs love egg whites.
Thanks for the notes Frank. It is awesome to see what these hogs actually do in the wild. Keep these field posts coming...

Your very welcome. They will be surfacing more very soon. As of now, most everything they do is underground. Including feeding.

As the summer moves on, they must surface to expand their hunting range. Its interesting to see, they come out of one hole, crawl like they have a map, to another and go down. That's pretty much the extent of what they do. Normally, they are on the surface less then 30 minutes.

I hope to see more on what they feed on. Best wishes
