Elaphe prasina likes micro-brewed beer...

Didn't that title just grab your attention? Don't worry I am not getting my snakes drunk. I do have a question though. Can anyone give any care tips for the green bush rat snake(Elaphe prasina)? I am about to obtain a 2003 CB hatchling and I have never kept these guys before. Could you please point me in the direction of a care sheet or something?

I keep mine at standard colubrid temps, around 82 or so with a hot spot about 5 degrees hotter, though they seldom use it. At night they drop to around 78. High humidity is key - they feed well when kept humid and will often go off feed if the humidity drops too low. I mist them several times per week and also provide a box filled with damp whole sphagnum. They spend a fair amount of time in there (see photo below). I tend to feed these guys smaller meals more often rather than large meals less frequently. They like to climb, but mine also spend a lot of time on the ground.

If you have more specific questions, feel free to email.
