I'd like to share a pic and a short story about getting back to the basics. I got into this hobby 16 years ago and became successful at keeping and breeding due to the help and support of all seasoned breeders. Everyone was always willing to chat, share stories and knowledge, and most importantly - jump in and help when a fellow herper or newbie needed it most!

So last night, I received a call from a long time friend Dustin (whom is not involved in reptiles) that stated he had another friend in need of some reptile related assistance. The problem was that his buddy, John Walker, had done everything right with his animals and discovered that his spider female laid 6 perfect eggs after being bred by his fire male. The problem was, he was not expecting them for another few weeks and had ordered an incubator the morning of the clutch arriving! He needed to find an alternative method or solution, and quickly.

I immediately told Dustin to have John call me to discuss the situation. To sum it up, I was glad to have not only met John, but have him over to see my collection and to offer my assistance. I walked him through my way of setting the clutch up for incubation and offered him space in my incubator until his arrives. To me, this is getting back to the basics and I am proud to have the knowledge and desire to pay it back to this hobby that we all love!

Congrats John!
