Moving with eggs

ROC Jul 22, 2013 11:57 AM

Just got a clutch today and I am moving in 10 days about 7-8 hours away. I've successfully moved with colubrid eggs across town but wondering about this long distance(and I won't have someone to hold them in their lap). Anyone had to do this before?
Thanks!
Ross

I've moved my ball python eggs 2.5 - 3 hours twice over bumpy highways in stiff suspension trucks with no obvious bad effects. I basically turned the cab into an incubator with the climate controls to hold the temp monitored with a remote probe in the egg boxes. Make sure you avoid sun hot spots.

If you have room for a big enough cooler a better way might be to get a bunch of water bottles to incubator temp and that should hold for a pretty good trip (maybe sneak in a hotter one every now and then).

Pack the egg boxes full of hatching substrate...
Get a 12/120 converter to plug into cig lighter in vehicle...run a thermostat...good luck
