I have a reptile room in Southern California. In summer the room is getting hotter than I desire even with our central air and overhead fan. I am thinking of getting a portable air conditioning unit to assist in cooling the room. Am I on the right track and can someone recommend a uni? The room is an upstairs bedroom about 15x15, Thanks

We had the same problem and purchased a portable AC. It's an LG 8000 btu purchased at Target and also a Johnson control model A419 purchased from eBay. The Johnson control allows the AC to cycle on and off so it is not running non stop. Have been able to keep my room at a stable ambient temperature. We just went through a heat wave where outside temps were 95-98 degrees and we were able to keep temps steady 82.
