OT, hognose growth in nature

FR Jul 27, 2013 10:38 PM

Please, you folks must understand, I am goofy for a reason. I see this daily, so it does prejudice me. I have to think what they do in nature is FACT, and what we do with them is not. What we do is just our individual attempts.

These individuals are a sample of last years neonates, they are aprox, hatchlings to a couple weeks of age.

These two are those hatchlings now, Aprox 10 months of age.

These are two extremes from that hatch, one very large for its age, the other fairly small.

You must remember, these animals only had a small active period, don't forget winter was part of their ten months of being alive. They easily tripled their length. Enjoy

The upper two are the same snake, the top pic was in Late Oct, I believe and the bottom is now. It started out about 4 1/2 inches and has grown three times that.

THis one was a hatchling(4 inches) on Dec 31. it has grown very well.

ALso, as I have said, I am new to these fellas, as mentioned, they are similar but a tad different then other colubrids. Enjoy
