I felt that way after they moved the expo from Orlando. I was then a locale specific guy and many like me called it the "Morph" show. Actually still a locale guy but most now have morph influence. One day out in the middle of a swamp I came across a Northern Blue Tongue. Another time a Spur Thigh. Know of breeders (colubrids) that could not sell or had poor feeding stock dump them in canals.
Ball pythons were just the next level of the hobby. There was money to spend and people that wanted to get their hands on it. They supplied that need just as colubrid morphs did before them.
The only time money was not that big of a deal was when locale guys would trade herps with other locale people in differnt parts of the Country. Most these days have no clue what wild types once existed in the areas they live in. Whats worse they don't even care.
Which brings me to you Dave. I recall you being very locale specific. I once wanted your specific locale Black Pines. Still have those? What kings are you working with?
And back to Rainier. I recall you having some of the largest, palest canal strain of Brooksi I ever saw. Still produce those?
These are the types of herps that catch my eye. Show me a Chain King right from South Jersey. Heck, even I don't know if they are still there even though I hiked that area during the late 60's early 70's.
