50 days later...

It took fifty days from laying to the first pip. She laid four big eggs (there was a fifth in her still when I discovered--and removed--this clump). Never saw that fifth egg, so I guess she ate it. I kept the eggs on coconut bedding and sphagnum moss and they sat in a hallway closet at a pretty constant 82 degrees. These are from anery parents het for hypo.

Congratulations!
Wow! That is fast! I have my first pip after 74 days. But mine are pyros and incubated at lower temps.

Thanks!

I know, for some reason my kings hatch around the fifty day mark (I'm including a baby pic of my fave from 2011--he hatched at 54 days and is double het for anery ghost). There were no temp spikes--I keep the house at around 82-86 degrees and the thermometer always showed 82--I figured with the moisture it was a little cooler in the actual incubation chamber.

I am grateful I checked on them yesterday, as the setup was not closed--the snake could've escaped! Another is pipping now. Thanks again!

No, this is a baby pic from 2011--I need to dust off my digital camera and get some new shots of him all grown up. Congrats on the pyros!

Very cool. Definitely post pics of the clutch. You should have some cool patterned hatchlings.
I'm guessing @ those temps around 50 days or so is pretty standard. I hatched out a small (4 egg) clutch of b&w Cals this year after 52. What's odd is my female laid 25 days after 1st & only observed copulation.
