Proud Father !!!!

Proud Father!!!!!

Quick history first before my question.

I got my first kingsnake about 3 or 4 years ago just for fun. But then I had to have more. So now I have 4 cal kings. Then I got two Mandarin rat snake in hopes to breed then one day. They are not old enough yet.

Well, just recently caught a garter snake in my back yard and decided to keep it for a while. My daughter decided to give it a girls name. It's a good thing because it just had babies, 8 babies.

If you have had children, I have two, a boy an a girl. I am doing what all proud first time fathers do.

Set back an look at them and say....Crap, now what do I do?!!!!!!

So I guess that is my question to all ya'll out there.

Now what do I do? How and what do I feed these small babies? How long do I keep them with the mother?
Any thing esle you can tell me to do would be great.
OH and one more thing, does anyone want any garter snakes. LOL

Look in the gartersnake classifieds for Scott Felzer (spelling?). He should have a link to his website in his ads. In there he has a nice write-up on baby gartersnake care.

I have raised up only a few garters - they were checkered garters. The tiny babies ate earthworms with no hesitation after their first shed. I had to cut the worms in half at first. The snakes grow fairly quickly. Later I added chopped fish dusted with vitamins/calcium and fed worms too. After awhile they ate thawed pinkies and were very happy on those. Neat snakes for sure. I still have one of them, gave away the rest. I believe that all species of garters like earthworms and fish.

Yeah feed them worms, red wigglers or cut up nightcrawlers. Warning: You'll find that they poop a lot more often then kingsnakes.
