My friend Jimmy Tintle produced some melanistics this year as well. Not very many out there, even though they have been out there for decades.

First of all' Congrats! That's awesome! Definitely post some clearer pics. I've never even seen melanistic Thayeri. Very interested to see what they look like.

i will post some close up pics after they shed. what does everyone think. is this a recessive trait or something else. if it is recessive the milkshake phase is a het. i will post pics of the parents too. i welcome your opinions on these. thanks Rin
I collected the first black thayeri and proved it out as a simple recessive. That was in the late seventies. Can't say whats occurred between then and now.

I would definately like to see pics of the adults(and babies once they shed). I got 18 thayeri from 3 clutches this year, none of them are melanistic but I'll post pics soon.
