I'm still in the planning stages for my Uro. I was planning on buying a 75 gallon tank. But I've been having problems figuring out what to use as a top. The only thing I've found is a 1 piece screen top (no access door, center hinge, etc). This just seems like it would be a pain to have to remove the lights and the screen throughout the day for feeding, etc. Anyone else use a tank - and if so what do you use for a top?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a tank that size. I have to have a top since I have cats as well, and I'm ridiculously unhandy with tools and things, so couldn't build one. I have a screen top like that - no door or hinge. It's a hassle, but I'm surviving. Right after I bought the thing, reptiledirect started carrying the same size with a center hinge. You might take a look at those, though I will tell you the shipping is painfully expensive - though it might be less than I paid since the thing folds in half (smaller box).

I built my cage out of ply wood and dont have a top. I have 2 150 basking lights, 1 150 day light, and 1 150 heat lamp. The cag is 5X3X2.5 and since the walls are kind of high i dont need a top. It looks a lot better without a top if your cage is on the ground, and it makes cleaning a lot easier. If you can keep the temps up, and have no pets that would attack the uros then i think you dont need a top.
