Did the vet take a skin scraping and culture it so you know exactly what you are faced with? You are better able to treat the infection if you know what it is. I realize Baytril is the antibiotic given to most reptiles, but like humans, no one antibiotic cures all. Just a thought. Until you get to the vet I would use newspaper as substrate and keep the infected skin as clean as possible. You may possibly try neosporin...

It does depend on what is causing the infection. I have a tortoise that was having an infection on her leg, and the vet told me to use Betadyne to clean it and kill the infection, then to put a triple-biotic ointment on it. I also kept her on newspaper till it cleared up. You don't want to put Betadyne anywhere near the eyes though! Both these products are over the counter. By the way, my herp vet says Betadyne should be part of everyone's first aide kit for reptiles! Good stuff!
Hope this helps!
Beth
