KLEW (Lewiston, Idaho) 11 October 13 Reticulated python was found abandoned (Rachel Dubrovin)
Pullman, WA: The latest rescue at the Washington State University Veterinary teaching hospital is bright yellow, roughly 22-pounds and stretches to eleven-feet long.
A landlord found this reticulated python abandoned inside one of her properties on Wednesday. The veterinarians said that when they got to her she was dehydrated, slightly malnourished, and burned because she had coiled herself around a heater.
She's going to need about six weeks worth of antibiotics," said WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital Exotics and Wildlife Department Head Nickol Finch. "Her cost, ultimately is going to run somewhere between a thousand and $2,000, getting her taken care of and back to health."
Those taking care of the snake said they're hoping to get donations to cover the snake's medical expenses. When she's nursed back to health, they will be searching for a new owner who has experience caring for large snakes.
This is the second abandoned snake the veterinary teaching hospital has rescued this month. The first one was found in Clarkston.
