well here's my story. I have a male albino het snow boa that has a blockage. I had an x-ray and ultrasound done. can see the blockage but it's just a white mass. I've been giving him baths and exercise twice daily for 3 weeks. Even took him back to the vet, who is an exotics vet and knows a lot about reptiles, where he tubed and mineral oiled him. Nothing......he's getting weaker and thinner. Took him back today and here are my 3 options.
1. do nothing and he will die.
2. $600 surgery
3. donate to him, he'll do surgery and give him to his breeder friend in VA.
1. is out.
well with two I have to weigh my options. will he survive? will there be complications? can I afford it.........is it worth it?
that leads me to 3, which is probably the right choice but.......maybe it's cos I'm from the northeast but it chaps my ass that I would lose him to someone else. he's my only male, I've had for 3 years and was going to breed this year. I'm not budgeted for big pricey purchases. this is a science experiment for me, not a profit making scheme.........now someone else will have an albino het snow, breeding age just drop into his lap. plus........I'm really attached to him. he's a great snake. never skipped a meal (til recently) never hissed, never an act of aggression or fear. the model snake......
ugh........anyone know the going price of an albino het snow or an anery het snow, breeding age?? I need to know so I can start looking around......and saving. just cos I have a het albino and two beautiful snakes I got from Guy Schavone years ago. A dh snow and a hypo DH snow and they are ready for a male.....
thanks for actually sticking thru my rant.
