PLAIN DEALER (Cleveland, Ohio) 17 October 13 Strongsville resident finds python in garage (Evan MacDonald)
Strongsville, Ohio: A resident was treated to an unpleasant surprise Monday when a 4-foot ball python was found in a garage.
Police said a resident reported finding the snake in a garage around 7:23 p.m. Tuesday. It's unclear where the snake came from; as of Thursday no one had reported the snake missing, police said.
Animal Control Officer Mike Roth and police responded to the residence to retrieve the snake. A police sergeant eventually managed to catch the animal in a pillowcase, Roth said.
Jail Program Coordinator Molly Chan is caring for the animal until it's returned to its owner or a new home is found, Roth said.
"She's going to keep an eye on it," Roth said. "She knows a lot more about caring for reptiles than I do."
