THE MONITOR (McAllen, Texas) 23 October 13 Charred snake pulled from house after fire
Brownsville: A house fire on Ninth and West Levee streets during the Tuesday lunch hour was an accident, the fire chief said.
“It was ruled accidental,” Brownsville fire Chief Lenny Perez said. “Something was left on the stove.”
Brownsville firefighters could be seen spraying down the house and breaking windows to help ventilate the residence where heavy smoke poured out of the house for at least 20 minutes.
Perez said the fire began in the kitchen.
The homeowner could be seen surveying the damage from the blaze, including a charred snake he held in his hand. Firefighters took the tank that contained the snake out from the house after the fire was doused.
