gloves, yes or no?

gkferris Oct 07, 2003 10:44 PM

I know you aren't supposed to handle a frog, but my green tree frog is very personable and likes getting out of his tank to sit on my computer or watch tv with me sometimes, so does it hurt him if I handle him wearing latex gloves and wet them down so they don't dry or tear his skin?

Really, you shouldn't handle them except to remove them for tank maintenance. Yes, wear latex gloves (NON POWDERED) whenever handling.

I figure if the gloves aren't wet that they have a higher chance of wetting its skin more than your own hands... so wet the gloves

Anyhow, do you mean an American Green treefrog, or a White's/Dumpy/Australian green treefrog? If it's an American, for it to be so calm and tame is not indicative of good behavior but probably of parasites, so get it a fecal if it is! GTFs, even when used to someone's presense, shouldn't be calm and just sit on a TV or computer or anything like that.
