humidity in reptariums

kalidraven Oct 07, 2003 11:58 PM

this is what i did to trap humidity in a 65g reptarium,

this is a front shot of the cage,

i lined the left side and back with a plastic trash bag and folded some of it on the top,

then i used a piece of plexi-glass i had to use on the right side which is the

access door making it easier to get in and out.

and this is the reading 75F with hi% humidity, that means the humidity has exceeded 90%

so i hope this helps is anyone was interested in getting one of these cages as thier very cheap

and easy to maintain plus you can hang plants anywhere in it

I have done the "looking for something" that will work as a viv. I even looked at display cases. I did find a place in Omaha that sells used displays and some of them are in the $200-400 range. The thing with them is that they have some parts that would rust, some parts are particle board, and some are plywood depending on the model. I figured that if I ever made the purchase I could probably coat the entire thing, except for the glass, with poly resin. Problem with that was that I could make one for less, in all my spare time!LOL

did you get the tray that fits the reptarium or did you use some other means for containing a suitable substrate? I have too many laying females to not have 4" or better of substrate for them to dig their nests in.

Aside from that, I love the extra climbing space the reptarium gives our climbing friends!

if you go to www.bigappleherp.com you can get the 260g cage and its huge it stands 6ft tall 2 1/2 feet wide and 2 1/2 feet in length and is 106.39,this will be my next cage for my MHD when she is almost full grown. cant say theres not enough room in that cage for a dragon or two.

I M looking for something more closed in
I think it is the 110G reptairium that will fit over the top of the 55 gal tank, to add 2.5 feet of height
I am gonna go good will shopping this weekend (kids are with their fathers sister for the weekend) so I can rip all the seats out of the mini van and go to ALL the stores
I cannot spend much more than $100 so Haggling is a PLUS
then i can get stuff to seal in the inside, and then glas front will be a good view, set up waterfall and dirt in the bottom
Otherwise I M gonna have to ge a loan for a Cages by Design setup (the middle one seems to be inclusive of what I need, and is expensive, but a smaller loan will not kill me)
