PARADOX PAIR

mike_panic Mar 08, 2014 10:23 AM

In my opinion, these are simply two of most amazing boas that exist. They are simply stunning in person. The female was produced by Tom Burke in 2008 and is owned by my friend Dave Saracino. Shes here and we have been considering breeding them together. The male I produced here in 08. They are both pure Lipstick animals. Thanks for looking. Mike Panichi

female(pumpkin)

Those look incredible.

They look stunning in those pics.

I'd be curious if they prove to be het for anery.

I bred a female paradox last year and she turned up het for
anery. She was born here, and I didn't know that either of her
parents were anery hets.

Mike,

I remember when your two paradox males were born! I wanted them both so bad lol. A few years back you bred one and it turned out a DH Sunglow, if I'm not mistaking?! In any event, your Paradoxes are amazing looking! I've not seen too many with ( thinking only one other than yours) with the split colored irises.

Great animals and photos of each! Good luck if you end up breeding the pair! In 2010 I had put unrelated pair together but sadly ended up with a really premature litter ( both paradoxes proved to be true albinos tho I saw no paradoxes).

Thanks for the post, always awesome animals from you!

Hey James. Its funny you say that because I proved the freak out to be only an albino. His paradox brother Patch as I used to call him, only sired one litter I think and I believe he was a DH. I bred him to a lipstick albino female and ended up making some killer sunglows. I have to look at the book. Anyway, this female is just amazing. Such an easy look to her. Take care. Mike

Mike,
OK, yeah, it was Patch that I remembered breeding then. I knew there were awesome Sunglows out of the litter and something about DH. Was a few years now. I had put a Paradox from Pete Kahl with one from Jeff Ronne together and that was the litter that didn't work out well. Was excited to see all albinos but I knew she was way too early. Would never stay coiled on the warm side of the enclosure. Sad. I'm sure you, like me , knew not to have too high expectations when breeding a Paradox… but man, it was hard to not dream of getting a whole litter of them ( esp with a Paradox X Paradox pairing!) … maybe down the road. Take care and best wishes for your animals !!

Someone's been hoarding these cool little creatures, lol…. Hard to not appreciate them regardless of some peoples' feeling towards them not being a reproducible trait. At least, to me, that makes them even more valuable. One of a kind for sure! Here's a few…..

Thanks for looking.

Wow James that is some collection. They are all beautiful and I always wondered if someone like you who appreciated them, would try and collect them on a larger scale. I must admit,I have pretty nice boas floating around my snake room but these are totally in a different league. Best of luck with them. Mike

Mike, thanks for the reply and compliments!! I LOVE them and the randomness of each boa's level and placements of the black. One of the males was born from a Paradox so I was really hopeful that it would prove genetic in at least him… but it didn't. Weird "freak" occurrences and I have to admit, my favorites are the ones with heavy black throughout their whole bodies- such as your two males! I'm surprised there haven't been popping up with all the advancements in breeding knowledge. Then again, I appreciate having animals that still, years later, are unique in this hobby/industry! Crazy to hear some of the biggest breeders tell me back in 2007ish that paradoxes would be euthanized at birth because some breeders thought there was something
"wrong" with them… glad those days are over!! Anyway, enough rambling…. thanks again and look forward to seeing what you produce this year and I'll toss more pics up here and there myself ( I have some in Tibors thread above as well) Take care
