Leachianus Geckos

HEy MIke and Bill, from posts i have read i found out you have leachianus. I was wondering if you have a care guide, or some information on breeding for me. I work at a pet shop and we recently aquired a pair of leachies about 5 months ago. If i remember right they are either 00 or 99 hatchlings. And starting about a month ago they started getting pretty agressive with each other. The frmale was latched on to the males head 3 times, and the male on the females head twice. Is this tough love or something terretorial? Thanks for the help i hope to hear from either of you soon.

Unfortunately, I do not have any first hand exp[erience with these behaviors yet. Anything I would say would be speculation, and I don't like doing that. How big is the cage?

Ben,
Bill and I acquired hatchling leaches last Jan., but a few months ago I purchased an adult pair of PI’s and have been successful with them so far. I have a clutch cooking now that is due at the late October early November (*fingers crossed), so I’m pretty excited about it . Anyway # 1 question is what morph are they? PI’s and all the other island morphs are usually more tolerant of each other since island populations are denser. The GT’s however I have heard can be quite nasty with each other and their owner. Which is happening with my youngest one, he was supposed to be a PI, but it looks like and he acts like he has some GT in him. The second as bill mentioned is the cage. The island morphs as I stated can tolerate each other better and you can get away with less cage space, 30-40 gallons should be fine for them. The GT’s however can not only be less tolerant but they grow larger so need quite a bit more space. This way if one is being bullied he has enough room to run and hide without being hunted down and cornered. Right now however the best piece of advice I can give you is separate them and try again in a few months. She just might be done for the season. I wish you the best of luck, and drop me an e-mail if you have anymore q’s (quickest way to reach me).

Hey thanks 4 the info. I am pretty sure the leahies are PI's. I am not sure though. I dont know too much about morphs but if i were to guess they are just normals. (I will post a pic tomorro of them) They arent to aggressive, But i did get latched on to when i was attempting to capture the female after chewing on the males head. Luckily i was wearing leather gloves, But believe me it still stung.
We tried separating them on 4 occasions and the fought every time, except for this last time. They haven't been fighting for at least the past week and there seems to be no signs of aggression. The cage is 2 high by 3 wide by 2 deep and the temp and everything else is perfect. There eating crested diet, baby food, pinks, waxies, supers, the whole works.
Hey how many eggs do they lay at a time? and are they pretty big? also do you know gestation or incubating times. I'd imagine it is around the same as other Rhacodactylus. Hey thanks for the help again, i will prolly drop you an e mail soon.
