Is this the Cali king you posted about below feeding on pinkies?
If so, he is big enough to eat hoppers!

Another oddity, snakes have scent glands, hmmmmmmmmmm what are they for?
FR
yes that is the one
beauty isn't he
he ate a lizard, so at least he's not starving. but yes i'm going to start him on hoppers.
after seeing the size of the lizard he just consumed, pinkies are def too small
thanks for the advice bluerosy!!!!
Yes he is nice, beautiful and much BIGGER than we thought or got the impression of from your first posts.. I thought you bought a small 2013 animals.. and it is the proper size for a 2013.. so it was not starved or fed on a maintenance diet.
This is why it is best to post a pic of the snake in question.
now you have to figure out why he stopped eating for you??.. because it is obvious he ate before and fed on fuzzies or hoppers. Otherwise he would not have grown.
So get some small hoppers and try leaving them overnight in his cage.. Maybe he wants the more mature mouse with hair and everything since that is what he probably was feeding on..
Also, I would try and not feed him lizards anymore.. also you are introducing parasites from the lizards to your snake.. So best thing is you stick to mice.
He has been feeding on mice until now.. so I am sure he will eat for you again soon.. Just be patient. He will eat again soon.

he has grown a lot since we first got on here about a week ago. its amazing how fast they grow.
i will go to the store to buy a hopper today and see if he eats that tonight or tomorrow.
he was out looking for food last night, so hopefully he'll eat the mouse.
Just a huge relief that he ate something.
yeah that is not a tiny king that needs pinkies.
given the age, size, and time of year, he is primed to eat like a machine and grow like a weed.
he'll slam hoppers for a while and then be on small mice before you know it.
