help with wiring a timmer and dimmer

I am trying to wire an intermatic timer and a dimmer switch on my snake enclosure. any advise on the correct wiring for this. I taked to intermatic one tech said you can do it inline with eachother and another says you cant. I have read on line that you can, I just need to know the wiring.
