Not promoting owning of these guys, but it's the most impressive specimen I've seen out there. The handler gives good scale too.

Yesterday I lost a good friend. I will miss him he was over 8 foot long and 42 lbs..
how old was he?
Monitors in general are so different than other reptiles that they really leave a big hole in you when they die. Is there any discernible cause of death yet? Again, my sincerest condolences on your loss.

There was nothing to lead me into thinking any fowl play was involved with his death. He ate up until the day before he passed away, drank, did all his normal things. He was found the next day in the same position he fell asleep in other then his tongue was hanging out. I reached in and realized he had passed he was not stiff so he must of passed shortly before I found him.
I bought him as a big croc. so I have no way of truely knowing his real age. I was told he was purchased in 98 so I know he was atleast 5.
Last night I had a dram of my BT when it was just a tiny guy. He was healthy and spry. Wierd thing is when I woke up I almost half expected to find him like that again...
I understand the pain of losing a friend, even if it is jst a lizard.
Your friend,
Michelle
