Is it OVER

I will admit I was one of the people who just fell off the earth when it comes to the boas. Im not sure why but I just stopped looking at forums. At first it was a relief because I was obsessed with snakes and boas so I really did welcome a normal life. Now as I pop my head back in I see this forum along with others are completely dead. What the heck happened. Did everyone go through what I went through or similar.

Was it just too expensive to buy new morphs

Were we just into for the money and when the bottom fell out so did we.

Even though a lot of us have fallen off where are all the newcomers. We were once the new comers.

Have all the exciting times left.

Did the morphs kill the hobby. This was actually the reason why I stopped looking....nothing but morphs.

Everyone is still doing it just not posting....maybe posting on Instagram.

Is this like and ebb and flow. Will it ever be back.

Did we get too spoiled and a nice normal no longer impresses us.

A gorgeous tail suri..with no peaks doesnt even phase us.

It is a shame. I remember the days when a shipment would come in straight from Suriname and had ticks, mites, and the boas hadn't fed and we would still be excited to get it and add these animals to our collection. Hoping to breed, hoping to get it to feed and hold down a meal. It was actually exciting times. The animals would just come in with unreal patterns and color. It was a challenge. We actually loved the challenge. I remember when I would first get my import Suri to eat I would feel so proud and happy. Then to actually hold down a meal that was a different story. It made you appreciate your animals so much. Seems like we enjoyed a challenge. I know things have changed but seems like many boa keepers are wusses now. Hey I understand why because I was the same way. But I tell you I sure would like to see some excitement with this hobby other than morphs breeding. Just seems a bit boring....what the heck happened. Im certainly not saying bring back all the regurgitating boas from South America Im just asking what happened...Oh for some reason my question mark isnt working....lol

Hi Lexxxx300

I also don’t post here very much any more but I do check the forum out for time to time. I do breed morph but I also have some pure Southern Brazilian BCA and Northern Brazilians BCC. Here are a few pictures of them for you. Love the color on your Colombians very nice.

Southern Brazilian BCA

I sold these two girls.

Northern Brazilians BCC

Take care

I think Facebook was the big forum killer, for two reasons. It allows the direct upload and organization of photos, without the need for a separate place to host them, and it functions like a central, one-stop forum.

I still love to peruse the forums, but I think FB is why the traffic is down so much.

I agree . . . "FB" has had a huge impact on Forum traffic . . . Although I personally have had some health issues I'm working through that caused me to slow down with the Boa hobby . . . Although I Luv Boas way too much to ever quit them. I'm slowly making a come back or at least trying to. I personally am a huge fan of Morphs and beautiful colorful Colombian type Boas.

I Love color ,the more color the better

I alw ays appreciate a beautiful Guyanese, Surinamese or Peruvian Boa heck all the Bcc or Bca , and Bco Boas appeal to me as well . . ..
I still consider myself a Boa fanatic

Hi Alex,

I know exactly what you are saying. Due to some injuries I had to reduce my large collection down to a small, manageable one but my interest is still there. I check KS daily but not much traffic in any of the forums. I don't do Facebook but if that is where it is at, I will have to look into it.

From everything I see and all that I talk to, the hobby is down. Might be the economy, fear of pending snake legislation, or just a time of low interest. I like the natural occurring snakes and locale BCC in particular. I love the Suri but my favorites are the Peru BCC. And from what I see they are real scarce now. When Gus Renfro of Rio Bravo Reptiles closed shop, that said it all.

What percentage of people that you see in reptile conventions post on KS?

It is a low #. Boas are bought and sold all over, those people just don't hang out in KS forums.

I've been hanging out here for over 13 years, most of the people who used to post back then are not posting now.

I think Facebook and other social media aps have taken over, not that there is any less interest in boas.

There is just less interest in these types of forums. The classified section still gets a tremendous amount of visitors.
