Need some ideas

my boyfriend (svt-sinister) just built a cage. its very nice but we need to put things in it. he wants to put drift wood in the cage. i think its a great idea. We would like some kind of design but do you think if we were to paint something on the back of the wood it would be ok? Anything would help me right now. I just need some kind of idea to make the cage look nice.
