Super Motley Magic

newworldmorphs Jul 18, 2014 06:24 PM

FINALLY- Some oddities of my own! No, these are not sUPER mOTLEYS, But rather Possible Super Hypo Trait Motleys- some I haven't seen produced thus far so its a little bit of a guess. These are the results of a TH Orangasm X TH Motley pairing I have been looking forward to for a few years now. Looking like I finally produced a Super Ghost Motley het Albino and Super Motley Moonglow. I know I will need to breed and prove out the Super Hypo part ( and the Albino het in the Ghost as it is only a 66% possibility given the parents) but compared to the others in the litter and the markings/colors, Id say theres a fair chance they will indeed prove out. Below I am posting the Pos Super Ghost Mot, Pos Super Mot Moonglow , Mot Sunglow and Albino both pos het Anery, and some of the other Ghost Mots that look as tho they will prove het Albino as well. Was a small litter given the size of the female but the virgin male did what he could I guess. Glad these have all shed and eaten and looking good. Cant ask for much more than that til its time to prove out genetics! I love the patches and blotches of white on everyone and the Moonglow's head is so whitr theres no markings on it at all! There are more offspring in this litter but these are the ones that really stick out without posting every single baby. Feel free to question or comment! Thanks for looking! Congrats on everyones' litters this season!

I like the freaky looking ghost.

My Paradox Hypo Harlequin started out kinda looking like that,
then her whole body eventually got white blotches.

It's funny, I actually like the Ghost more than the Moonglow just because its not "normal" looking. lol I was "committed" to not keeping a single holdback from this litter but this lil guy is making me have second thoughts. I'm thinking he will eventually tun more white over time as well which makes me more excited. I LOVE the tail colors!

Thanks for your response! I appreciate it! Hope all is great with your new babies as well!

I thought a SUPER HYPO motley of any type can not be produced because of the way the genes/alleles work???

Very good topic and one I have looked into for years and continue to look for others interested in breedings like this. There wasn't and still isn't very much definitive data on this as there ( from what I've been able to scrape up over the internet and the breeders I've talked to over the years ) just isn't enough people doing the breeding trials to be certain. Back when I started looking into it I was met with a ton of educated guesses but it wasn't a breeding many were doing and posting about (That I could find) but wanted to go for it anyway. Whats the worse that could happen, have an awesome litter?! lol

I had taken all of that into consideration when obtaining these specific Boas to put together and doing this breeding- again , it was a Hypo het Snow to a Hypo Motley het Snow. Another thing I took into consideration when posting this thread was being careful in the words I choose to use. Not only do I not want to get pounced on in a public forum by anyone , but I also feel it's only right to be honest about what I can not yet prove. I still have yet to hear anyone breeding a hypo to a hypo motley AND then breeding a hypo motley offspring to anything else and proving out the Super Hypo trait is indeed there. With that said, I felt it fair and responsible to call that one Ghost Motley a POSSIBLE Super based on the Ghost Motley siblings that look NOTHING like it and the fact that the one Ghost Mot looks unmistakably more like the normal Poss Super Ghost than anything else in the litter.
When it comes down to it, I may have not answered your question the way you wanted and will not know for years if either will prove out to be a Super Hypo. Hopefully someone else will be able to answer that genetics question for all of us sooner! If someone has, I may have to change my post. Til then, I say its still Possible but what do I know If anyone else has any info on this , I would love to have it posted! Thanks for the great question!!
